A Kings Irrigation professional will assess your property to determine your irrigation needs. This includes considering factors such as yard layout, customer’s goals, soil type, plant types, sun exposure, water pressure and local climate conditions. Ideally, Kings will have access to the customer’s basement to check plumbing locations and water availability.
• Time Frame: approximately 1 hour.
• Customer Presence Required? Quotes can be done without anyone home but ideally the customer is home for basement access.
-
Based on the assessment, Kings will create a quote outlining what materials would be needed for your customized system and why. Considerations such as quality, price, durability, water efficiency, and compatibility with your landscape will be taken into account.
• Time Frame: Quotes are provided to the customer in 1-3 business days.
-
Quotes must be confirmed in writing. Once approved, any necessary permitting will be taken care of by Kings Irrigation.
• Time Frame: Quotes are only valid for acceptance in the year they are provided in.
• Installation Time Frame: this information will be provided during quote process as it is based on current scheduling.
-
Depending on scheduling, these may occur in any order:
• Plumbing: A King’s technician will hookup plumbing for the mainline with a backflow device, install controller and run line to the outside of the house.
Time Frame: approximately 2-3 hours.
Customer presence required? Yes.
• Flag Out: A Kings technician will flag out your yard to indicate where irrigation heads and valve boxes will be installed.
Time Frame: approximately 30 minutes to an hour.
Customer presence required? No, but it is preferred so technician can walk through flag placement.
• Alberta One-Call/Utility Safety Partners: Kings will contact for any necessary yard markings.
-
Depending on your yard, either a machine or technicians will install pipe and wires underground.
• Time Frame: this is yard dependent.
• Customer presence required? No.
• Important: During the irrigation pipe pulling phase, there may be temporary disruption to the aesthetics of your yard. While this process is underway, the grass landscape may appear less visually appealing (no damage is done to plants, flowers, etc). However, it’s crucial to recognize that this is a necessary step and with time, this will repair itself.
-
The installation process involves digging trenches for pipes, laying down the mainline and lateral lines, installing sprinkler heads, valves, and connecting the system to the plumbing already installed. Once installed, the technician will clean up the area (please see *Important* note below) and test the system to ensure proper functioning.
• Time Frame: this is yard dependent.
• Customer presence required? No.
• Important: As installing an irrigation system requires digging, there may be temporary disruption to the aesthetics of your yard. No damage will be done to plants, flowers, etc, but the grass landscape may be less visually appealing as the grass recuperates after install. It’s crucial to recognize that this is a necessary step and with time and your irrigation system operating, your landscape will see significant improvement to its health and appearance.
Time Frame: Most installs take 4-8 weeks to see major improvements, with 12 weeks for full improvement.
-
This usually occurs after the installation but can be flexible. A King’s technician will walk through the system with the customer to show how it all works and assist with any programming or help required.
• Time Frame: After installation, or as scheduled.
• Customer presence required? Yes.
